On November 11, 1919, President Woodrow Wilson made the first official statement about Veterans Day, which was then known as “Armistice Day” because it commemorated the resolution of WWI a year earlier. In it, he described the U.S. as being “filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service” and called the victory an opportunity for America “to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations.”
Since then, Veterans Day has been a time to shower our vets with honor and gratitude, a thing we at Blossom Flower Shops know a little about. And yes, we do have the perfect piece for Veterans Day.
Sure, you could send your favorite patriot an arrangement of red, white, and blue. But in keeping with Wilson’s original remarks, why not honor your vet with a symbol of what he or she fought for? A Peace Lily is a great choice that speaks to the nobility of this national holiday. And it’s a hardy, enduring plant, too, as well as a robust and yet elegant one, fit for any taste.
We at Blossom Flower Shops think you’ll find this the perfect piece for Veterans Day. We encourage you to select meaningful floral designs that go far in communicating your respect – and ours – for our veterans.
