Blossom Flower Shops is looking ahead to March 21, when they tell us spring starts. It may be a bit later for us than that—we can’t imagine our gardens suddenly bursting into action, for one—but there’s absolutely no reason we can’t convince ourselves that it’s spring inside our home and work spaces. And how do we do that? With flowers and plants. Or flowering plants.

Nothing says “Welcome Spring” more than a basket of fresh, cheerful blooms. And this is the season for baskets anyway—you’ll need one to pick up all of those Easter eggs on your hunt. Sending someone else a little basket of spring is also the kind of gesture we can get behind; what’s better than receiving a bunch of fresh, uplifting flowers and greens? While we wait for the days to get longer, the skies to get bluer and the air to get warmer, we can definitely turn our attention to brightening up our homes and the homes of others with a little green and pink and blue. Consider making it a new spring ritual to give (or keep) a basket of the season’s cheeriest flowers and plants. It’ll definitely help banish the winter blues.
